Desert Holly and Rock Forms, 2008. Death Valley National Park, CA

I made this photograph in Cottonwood Canyon during my Death Valley 2008 workshop. I used a digital SLR camera to record this image in RAW format and converted it to black and white using Nik Silver Effex Pro and Photoshop CS5. About 2 years later on a repeated visits I attempted to reshoot this image on 4x5 film but the bush had grown and changed shape, preventing a clean placement against the dark rock background.
