Weeds and Frost, 1987. Mt. Rainier National Park, Washington
This is one of the few negatives I shot on 4x5 T-Max 400 film.
The fairly contrasty highlights of this film helped accentuate
the "crispness" of the icy highlights on the frozen weeds. To
increase the apparent sharpness of the image, I used a Contrast
Reduction Mask, which also served to open the deep shadow detail
a bit. I then used a SCIM mask to enhance the crisp black accents,
resulting in a rich tactile quality. The print is moderately toned
in selenium to achieve the proper print color and depth. |
